When You Need a 10x13 Non Slip Rug Pad
Yes, it does happen sometimes.
OK. We know we said that you don’t need to worry about non slip grip for 10x13 rugs, but there is one exception.
If you have a thin or lightweight rug like a flatweave rug you may need a non slip rug pad. And if your rug will be in a high traffic area, we absolutely recommend getting a pad with some non slip qualities.
Why?
Because these 10 x 13 rugs often wrinkle and buckle no matter how much heavy furniture you stack on them. A non slip rug pad with a felt upper like our Superior Lock or Contour Lock rug pads will keep the rug in place on the floor and grip the rug to keep it from wrinkling on the pad. PLUS, these pads have proper padding with the felt, so you don’t have to give up comfort for non slip.
The Superior Lock felt and natural rubber rug pad comes in two thicknesses (1/4" and 7/16”) and has a 15 year warranty. The secret to it’s non slip grip and cushion duo is its reinforced rubber backing paired with soft recycled felt. For a more cushioned pad, get the thicker pad. I would like a pad for a 10 by 13 area rug on a bamboo floor. I want something that won't stain or harm the natural beauty of the bamboo. What do you suggest?
I recommend Superior Lock for your rug and floor. This felt and natural rubber pad is made with more than 1 lb. of natural rubber per square yard. Additionally, the backing is reinforced with another coating to prevent premature flaking and deterioration that is so common with cheap and low-quality products. The Super Lock rug pad will not harm or stain your bamboo floor in any way.

Does using a felt rug pad require a curing time for hardwood floors? We will move into our new home only a couple of weeks after the floors are finished. We have a pool table, and I would need to put my 10x13 rug down before they set up the table.
My advice is to wait for the floor to be fully cured. It is better to be safe than sorry. The flooring's manufacturer should be able to tell you how long it takes for your floor to cure.

I have a 10' x 13' rug with a 1" pile that will sit on a simulated hardwood laminate floor. How thick should a Superior Lock pad be for this rug and floor or would you recommend a different pad?
I would go with either the 1/4" or the 1/3" thickness.

Which of your pads is softer and better for a tile floor?
The 7/16" thick Cloud Comfort is our softest rug pad and is for rugs that do not require protection against slipping. If you need something with a strong grip then go for our second softest pad which is the 7/16" thick Superior Lock.

I recommend our Contour Lock or Superior Lock felt and natural rubber pads. Both have excellent non-slip traction that will keep your rugs stable, plus they will provide you with some comfortable underfoot cushioning. I’m looking at Eco Plush and Superior Lock for my 10' x 13' rug. It will be on laminate with two recliners on it. My rug is quite thick so I may not need the extra thickness of the 1/2" Eco Plush. However, will I need Superior Lock’s non-slip attribute?
With the size of your rug, you can go with Eco Plush. The rug is pretty big and has furniture on it so I doubt it will slide. If you are concerned that a 1/2" thick pad is too thick, we do have a 1/4" version of this all felt rug pad.

Since your rug is pretty large and you don't need grip, I'm going to suggest Eco Plush. This is a 100% all felt pad, and it is the safest one to put down on your floor. It contains no rubber which is why I'm suggesting it. With regards to PVC padding, we do carry a PVC pad. It's called Anchor Grip and is made from soybean oil and bio-based fillers. This pad is thinner and only comes in 1/8" thickness.
