Benefits of Our 4 x 6 Rug Pads
Low Profile |
If you have a 4x6 door mat or another rug that needs to fit under a door, having a low profile pad is essential for door clearance. Our lowest profile rug pad (RugPro) is only 1/16” thick meaning it offers non slip grip without adding any height to your rug. |
Non Slip Rug Pad |
A non slip pad is a must for smaller rugs like these, that’s why we use natural rubber or a soybean oil-based polymer blend in our non slip rug pads for superb gripping ability. |
Custom Cut |
Whatever size rug you have, whether it’s exactly a 6 x 4 rug or a little different, just enter the rug’s dimensions and we’ll make sure you get a pad that fits perfectly. We can adjust for all different unique sizes. |
Comfortable Rug Padding |
For 4 x 6 rugs where you want a bit more support like 4x6 kitchen rugs or bathroom rugs, we offer non slip cushioned pads like our Superior Lock rug pad. |
Durable |
When you get one of our pads, you know it’ll last (and help your rug last too!). That’s why we offer a 10-15 year warranty on all our pads. |
Made in the USA |
All our rug pads are made here in the USA meaning we ensure top-notch materials and quality working conditions for all our workers. |

GRAB THE ANCHOR GRIP RUG PAD FOR YOURSELF
Anchor Those Slippery 4x6 Entry Rugs or Hallway Rugs
A 4x6 entry rug, hallway rug, or other high traffic area rug will get its fair share of foot traffic and need door clearance. What does this mean in terms of rug pad considerations? You need a low profile heavy-duty gripping pad.
The best pad for this situation is our RugPro felt and rubber rug pad because it offers the most non slip grip and at 1/16” thick, it won’t add any extra height to your rug.
The non slip RugPro pad weds natural rubber and felt for the perfect combination of breathability, grip, and floor safety. The recycled felt fiber allows airflow between the rug and floor, while the solid construction and natural rubber help the pad grip both the rug and floor.
Basically, this thing is your 4 x 6 entry rug’s new best friend.
Another great option that’s ideal for eco-conscious rug-lovers is our Nature’s Grip rug pad. At 1/8" thick, it should still allow plenty of clearance under doorways and it combines natural rubber with organic jute fibers for an ultra durable and eco-friendly pad. (This pad is also safe with pretty much all flooring types.)

Slip a Plush Carpet Pad Under 4x6 Kitchen Rugs and Bathroom Rugs
For a 4x6 bathroom rug or kitchen rug, the biggest concerns are moisture tolerance and comfort.
To prevent mold or mildew and keep your feet happy, you’ll want to take a look at these pads:
- Super Lock Natural — a classic waffle-style and uses over 1 pound of natural rubber per square yard which offers subtle cushioning that won’t compress over time.
- Anchor Grip — a grippy soybean oil-based polymer blend material with a solid structure for maximum grip that’s surprisingly springy and waterproof.
- Contour Lock — a felt and natural rubber combination pad with subtle cushioning and reliable grip.
- Superior Lock — our most padded non slip rug pad with felt and reinforced natural rubber backing for maximum comfort and durable grip. (Comes in 1/4" and 7/16” thicknesses.)
All these pads are more mold and mildew resistant than the synthetic stuff, so you're better protected from damp conditions or wayward water droplets hiding under your rug. However, if you’re really in need of a waterproof pad (say you have a pet who has accidents), our Anchor Grip is the best option with non slip grip.

Putting a 4x6 Rug on Carpet?
We have the perfect rug pad for you too!
If you’re putting a rug on carpet, you need to check out our Carpet Lock rug pad. This pad is specially designed to keep rugs lying flat, wrinkle free, and in the right place on your wall to wall carpeting.
How is it specially designed?
The felt backing has a special texture that fastens to your carpet fibers (without damaging them) and the top natural rubber surface keeps the rug secure on the pad. The pad is approximately 7/16” thick, so it adds some serious comfort to your rug too.

Getting the Perfect Area Rug Pad for 4x6 Oval Rugs
Have an oval rug that you’re not sure how to size for a rug pad? We can cut your perfect oval rug pad too. Measure the longest length on each side, then simply choose the oval option in the area to choose rug shape, then put the dimensions in the rug size section.
The pad you’ll get will be a tad smaller than your oval rug so the pad will be fully hidden under the rug.

Customer Questions & Answers
-
I have a rug in a high-traffic area over wall-to-wall carpeting. The rug moves as the day wears on and I would like a pad that will stop this. What do you suggest? Size of pad should be about 48 x 72 inches
The only pad we know that works is our Superior Lock 7/16". Wall-to-wall carpeting can be tough so that thickness is necessary. Rubber side up felt side down.
-
If an all felt pad doesn't work too well in high-traffic areas what do you suggest for 4x6 and 3x3 area rugs? The pads must be non-toxic.
I suggest looking at our Contour Lock felt and natural rubber pad or our Anchor Grip pad which is a soybean oil-based polymer blend. Both these non-toxic pads have exceptional non-slip traction that stops rugs from slipping and sliding even in high-traffic areas.
-
How thick should a rug pad be for a 4'x 6' thin silk rug?
The pad should really be no thicker than 1/4".
-
What type of pad is most appropriate for a handmade needlepoint rug? It's 4' x 6' and will be going on a hardwood floor.
Take a look at our Superior Lock 1/4" pad. It's made of recycled felt and natural rubber and will stop your rug from sliding and moving, while also providing plenty of cushioning for a plush feel.

I need a pad and am looking at Super Lock Natural and Anchor Grip, but I don't want anything too thick. My main concern is to get something that adheres to the rug. Previously, I’ve had rugs slip off pads and don’t want it to happen again.
I recommend Anchor Grip. This low-profile pad will hold tight to both your floor and your rug, keeping it locked in place.
-
We have a new construction home with hardwood floors and are looking for a pad for a 4ft x 6ft rug in the entryway. I also have a Yorkie that loves to go potty on rugs. With this in mind, which pad do you recommend?
We have a small collection of water resistant pads that will temporarily prevent spills from reaching floors giving you enough time to clean up any pet accidents. For example, there is the Anchor Grip pad which also has a strong grip that is ideal for rugs that will receive lots of traffic such as those in an entryway. You could also look at Cloud Comfort, but this has no gripping attribute.
-
Could you recommend a rug pad for a 4'x 6' synthetic rug in a high-traffic entrance of a laundry? The rug is on wood flooring and other factors include a dog and a water bowl.
I recommend our Anchor Grip pad which has a very powerful grip that keeps rugs locked in place in high-traffic areas. This pad also has a liquid resistant barrier that can cope with spills from your dog's water bowl. If there are spillages or pet accidents, we suggest cleaning them up straight away.
-
I would like a thin pad to protect my hardwood floor from a 4ft x 6ft bamboo "rug". Its backing sticks to the wood and is ruining the finish. What can you suggest?

Which type of pad for hardwoods works best with a flatwoven 4x6 Dhurrie rug?
We suggest either Contour Lock or the Superior Lock 1/4 inch., which has a felt surface that grabs and holds your area rug, promoting rug evenness while preventing bunching, creeping, and curling at corners. The rich, dense felt core helps soften rug feel while preventing floor damage .Contour Lock’s design protects floors from scratching , which also makes it ideal for rugs with rough backings. It’s particularly well-suited to flat-woven rugs such as Dhurriess.
-

What pad do you recommend for a 4x6 utility rug at the main entry into the house? It is on a new hardwood floor that’s about a year old. The installer said to stay away from rubber pads. Also, I live in Florida and we're going into the rainy season.
I would follow your installer's guidelines and therefore I recommend our Anchor Grip pad. It has excellent non-slip traction and is also waterproof. This pad is a soybean oil-based polymer blend with zero rubber content and will be perfect for your utility rug.
-
