When You Need an 8x11 Non Slip Rug Pad
You generally don’t, but this is the exception.
We have one exception to our large area rug, “no non slip needed” rule and that’s with thin and lightweight rugs like flatweaves.
Why should you use a non slip rug pad for a thin rug?
Because these rugs often wrinkle and buckle no matter how much heavy furniture you stack on them. Sometimes they’re okay without non slip in low foot traffic areas, but in high or even normal foot traffic areas a non slip pad will be your saving grace.

I had Karndean vinyl plank floors installed last year and have finally found an 8' by 11' rug I like. The manufacturer says no rubber or latex pads, so which type of pad should I buy? I don't need non-slip because the rug will be anchored by furniture.
I would take a look at our Anchor Grip pad, which is made with a soybean oil-based polymer blend. It is safe for all hardwood floors, finishes, and laminates and provides a comfortable level of cushioning and long-term floor protection. Many customers with your type of floor purchase this pad. However, I would first call your floor's manufacturer because they will know a lot more than us about your floor and what can go on it.

We are putting down an 8 feet by 11 feet area carpet on a tile floor. This carpet will be anchored by furniture and is Barons Court Type II. So it’s thicker than standard but we still need a pad for cushioning. Are Eco Plush and Cloud Comfort recommended?
Yes, they are. As long as you are confident that your rug will not move either Eco Plush or Cloud Comfort will work well for you. These are terrific pads that offer long-term protection and plenty of cushioning but they are not non-slip.
