I have a 7 ft x 10 ft handmade oriental carpet to place on a new site finished wood floor. It will be in the foyer. What kind of pad is best for this situation?
Our Superior-Lock pad would work best for you. It doesn't scratch, strip or stain and also offers power gripping. Superior-Lcok comes in 1/4, 1/3, and 7/6 inch thickness. You would need to gauge the thickness of you rug to choose the appropriate thickness of pad to purchase.

My new rug will be a 7x10 SmartStrand and will have a heavy coffee table on top of it. I don't think slippage will be an issue, do you? Therefore, will the Eco Plush pad be okay to use?
We usually don't suggest Eco Plush for anything smaller than 8' x 10'. However, since you're putting a coffee table on the rug slipping might not be an issue. If you're really confident that your rug is not going to move then go with this pad at 1/4" thickness. I wouldn't go any higher than that.

I would like a rug pad for a 7x10 100% tufted wool rug. Previously, I bought latex pads from Lowe's that disintegrated into a fine powder. Which pads do you recommend and will they give me the same problems?
For your rug, I would go with a pad that has a powerful grip such as Contour Lock or Superior Lock. Regarding a possible problem with the pads, the short answer is no. We guarantee that Contour Lock pads will last for 15 years and Superior Lock pads for 20 years.

Our office is very open space with high ceilings and hardwood floors. Is there a rug pad to help reduce echo and absorb sounds in our conference rooms? I understand if a rug has a closed back, pads may not matter because sound cannot get through the rug.
I'm going to suggest Superior Lock at 7/16" thickness. This is one of our best pads for sound dampening and it will help to reduce the impact of the echoes in your rooms. When it comes to absorbing sounds the density of the pad is important. The greater the density the harder it is for sound to travel through.

Yes, that pad will be fine for you as long as you are certain that the rug is anchored by your furniture. If you are slightly hesitant, you should look at a pad with a gripping attribute.

We had a natural jute woven rug that left marks on our highly polyurethaned Brazil cherry wood floor. Now I need to work out how to clean that floor area. Also, what do you recommend for runners that slip easily on our beautiful floors?
For cleaning, I would use Murphy's oil soap straight from the bottle to remove the marks. For your runners, I suggest our Anchor Grip pad. This is a soybean oil-based polymer blend pad with an excellent grip that will stop your runners moving across the floor.

I have laminate flooring, a 7by10 flat-woven wool rug and a sectional couch and coffee table that will sit on top of it. I need a pad to provide some cushioning underneath and to stop the rug from moving. What do you recommend and what thickness?
Superior Lock is a great pad for your needs, providing cushioning and a strong grip to prevent rippling, bunching and moving. If your rug is on the thin side, I suggest 1/4" pad thickness, otherwise 7/16" will be OK.

No, it is not. Synthetic rubber will eventually damage your floor.
