  Does this rug pad contain any noticeable odors?

  No. Carpet Lock does not have any out of the box smell.

  How effective is this pad when placed on carpet surfaces?

  A:

  Carpet Lock is the most effective rug pad to prevent slipping and sliding on rugs placed on top of wall-to-wall carpeting. Its felt under surface is specifically designed to attach itself to the fibers of your carpet and keep your rug from slipping and sliding.

  Which floor types is Carpet Lock safe for?

  A:

  Carpet Lock is specifically designed for carpeted surfaces. These rug pads are made with an all natural combination of felt and rubber and will never damage or discolor your wall-to-wall carpet.

  When should I use a felt and rubber rug pad?

  A:

  A felt and rubber rug pad offers the best of both cushioning and grip. Carpet Lock is ideal for those looking to maximize cushion with rugs that also need grip. Felt and rubber pads also do a fantastic job of promoting rug evenness and preventing bunching that can occur with thinner, lower pile rugs that tend to bunch or knot up easily. The felt surface layer fastens itself to the bottom of your area rug while the natural rubber backing keeps rugs firmly anchored to the floor.

  Can the Carpet Lock pad be trimmed for a large rug?

  A:

  Yes, it can. When you are ordering your pad just tell us your rug's exact dimensions and we will cut you a perfect fitting pad with our free custom cutting service.

  I have just received a Carpet Lock pad to secure an 8' x 10' rug on a wall-to-wall carpet. Is it correct to position the pad with the felt side facing up?

  A:

  Actually, on carpet the rubber side goes up and the felt side faces down.

  Which of your pads works best for rugs on carpet?

  A:

  The only pad we market specifically for rugs on carpets is Carpet Lock. This felt and natural rubber pad is 7/16" thick and stops rugs from bunching and wrinkling when they are being walked on.

• Q:

  Which side of the Carpet Lock pad faces the carpet? Is it the grey or the white side?

  A:

  It is the grey side that faces down and touches the carpet.

• Q:

  I'm looking at your Carpet Lock pad because my area throw rugs left a yellowing residue on my white carpet. Will this product protect my wall-to-wall carpet when it is placed under the rugs?

  A:

  Yes, it will. Our Carpet Lock felt and natural rubber rug pads provide a protective barrier between rugs and carpets. So if they are placed under your rugs the yellow residue they're leaching will not reach your white carpet.

  I have a decorative handmade rug on a plush carpet in the entrance to my condo. The rug 'walks' and so I need a pad to keep it in place. What do you recommend?

  A:

  If the floor type is wall-to-wall carpet, we only have one option for that which is Carpet Lock. This is a felt and natural rubber pad that fastens itself securely to carpet fibers to stop rugs from moving.

  What mold/moisture resistant pad do you have to go under my rugs on top of carpet?

  A:

  Please take a look at our Carpet Lock pad. This felt and natural rubber pad is mold and moisture resistant and is the only option we have for rugs on wall-to-wall carpet.

  How thick is the Carpet Lock pad? I need to be sure that I can still open my door.

  A:

  The Carpet Lock felt and natural rubber pad is about 7/16" thick.

• Q:

  Will the Carpet Lock pad work for a thick Safavieh 8' x 10' area rug that sits on top of carpet? The rug creeps and wrinkles even when we have put it under furniture.

  A:

  Yes, the Carpet Lock felt and natural rubber pad should work fine for you, keeping your rug stable and wrinkle free. This is the only rug pad option we have for wall-to-wall carpet.

• Q:

  Will your Carpet Lock rug pad add adhesive or anything else to our commercial grade wall-to-wall carpet?

  A:

  No, it will not. Our pads do not contain any adhesives. The Carpet Lock felt and natural rubber pad is completely safe for your carpet and will not cause it any damage.

• Q:

  We’re looking for a solution to buffer the noise coming from children in a second story office. There’s wall-to-wall carpeting and so I thought Carpet Lock pads with large throw rugs over them may help with the noise. Is this a good idea?

  A:

  Yes, it is. Carpet Lock is about 7/16" thick and along with the rugs and carpet should significantly dampen the obtrusive noise.

• Q:

  I need a pad for a 12'7" x 6'7" area rug that will be placed on wall-to-wall carpeting. Carpet Lock is the only pad you offer for rugs on carpeting but will it also work on hardwood floors? I may take up the carpet in the future and replace it with wood.

  A:

  Yes, the Carpet Lock felt and natural rubber pad will also work on a hardwood floor. What you would have to do though is flip the pad so that the rubber side is in contact with the wood.

• Q:

  What is the best rug pad product for 2' x 8' wool area rugs over nylon carpet?

  A:

  For wall-to-wall carpeting, we only recommend one of our rug pads and that is the Carpet Lock felt and natural rubber pad. However, this pad does not work well with runners.

• Q:

  Does the Carpet Lock rug pad for carpets work with plush wall-to-wall carpeting?

  A:

  We have not heard of any problems with this felt and natural rubber pad on plush carpeting. However, we do not recommend Carpet Lock for runners.

• Q:

  I have a rubber-backed runner that I'm using as an entry mat. It sits on a wall-to-wall carpet but slides all over the place. Will your Carpet Lock rug pad help to stop this from happening?

  A:

  While Carpet Lock does a great job of keeping rugs stable on wall-to-wall carpeting, it does not work well with runners, unfortunately. For some reason, runners seem to be finicky.

  Will the Carpet Lock rug pad come in two pieces?

  A:

  No, it should come as one piece unless the width of the pad exceeds 12'.
