Super-Lock Natural
Product Details
The solution for rugs bent on slipping and sliding in high-traffic areas, Super-Lock Natural is our best-gripping rug pad yet – and better grip also means better floor protection. Its waffle design facilitates airflow between rug and flooring and lends a comfortable level of cushioning. Yet it’s thin enough to hold rugs fast and keep them lying flat.
Made in the USA with over a pound of natural rubber per square yard, this pad is denser and heavier than comparable latex and PVC pads and has been carefully designed to overcome problems associated with low-quality padding such as floor scratching, stripping and staining.

Customer Questions & Answers
-
Do I need a non-slip pad or a cushion pad?
Non-slip pads are best for high-traffic areas such as foyers and hallways, where thin rugs and runners are prone to slipping and sliding. Our cushion pads add a plush layer for large rugs already anchored by furniture, such as living and dining rooms. Should you decide you need a degree of both grip and cushioning, opt for a felt and rubber pad.
-
Does this rug pad contain any noticeable odors?
No. Unlike PVC, our natural rubber pads shouldn’t come with any significant out of the box odors.
-
What is the difference between natural rubber and pvc?
Aside from it’s eco-friendly benefits, natural rubber will out-perform and out-grip traditional PVC pads. PVC pads will stick to floors while natural rubber will grip floors.
-
Which floor types is Super Lock Natural safe for?
Super Lock Natural is made with rubber, which is safe to use on all types of floors and finishes as long as you follow flooring manufacturer's instructions and proper curing times are met. With unique floor finishes such as vinyl, lacquered, acrylic, waxed, and linoleum floors, check with your flooring manufacturer to determine whether a natural rubber pad should be used. Some flooring manufacturers will recommend a rubber rug pad while others may recommend using a vinyl rug pad.
-
Which rug types work well with Super Lock Natural?
Super Lock Natural is a low profile, high gripping rug pad. It pairs well with all rug types and sizes. It works especially well with stubborn runners and smaller rugs that tend to bunch and slide in high traffic areas.
-
What happens if this rug pad gets wet? Can it be washed?
Super Lock Natural can get wet without issue. We often recommend you hand wash them from time to time, but do not use them in a washing or drying machine.
-
How do I decide between a cushioned rug pad and non-slip rug pad?
Super Lock Natural is a non-slip pad geared at keeping your rugs flush with your flooring. We recommend it for thicker rugs that do not need additional cushioning, or for runner and area rugs that are prone to sliding out of place. Cushioned pads offer more comfort underfoot but may cause bulking in higher traffic areas.
-
What is the thickness of the Super Lock Natural rug pad?
Super Lock Natural is a low-profile natural rubber pad that is approximately 1/8" thick.
-
Can your rug pads be washed with a mild laundry detergent?
I don't recommend running our products through a washing machine. I suggest you blot/hand wash your pads with just warm water.
-
How thick is your Super Lock Natural pad and is it made of felt?
Super Lock Natural is a very low-profile pad that is approximately 1/8" thick. It is made entirely of natural rubber and so there is no felt.
-
Can any of your rug pads be used for an outdoor area rug?
The Super Lock Natural pad can be used for that kind of rug, but it really shouldn't get wet.
-
I am sensitive to chemicals and want to make sure the rubber in your Super Lock Natural doesn't have any VOCs, chemicals, off-gassing, or odors.
Super Lock Natural is made with natural rubber and has low VOCs. There are no added glues, plastics or adhesives and we have never received any complaints about there being an odor. However, if you are highly sensitive to smell you might notice the natural rubber.
-
How thick is the Super Lock Natural pad and is it the best pad for oriental rugs? I have 1/4" protectors and don't want anything thicker.
I only recommend Super Lock Natural pads for small rugs and runners. If you want high-level protection for your rug, get a felt and rubber pad, such as the Contour Lock pad. At 1/8" it has the same thickness as the Super Lock Natural. If you want something thinner, try Rugpro, which has a thin felt layer combined with a solid natural rubber backing.
-
What's the best pad for a 2'6" x 6' seagrass runner on a kitchen's wood floor?
I recommend Super Lock Natural, a natural rubber open weave pad with an excellent grip and superior floor protection. It is ideal for small rugs and runners in high-traffic areas and is about 1/8" thick.
-
I need a pad for a 12' x 31' 1/2" silk Persian hall runner to avoid slipping and to make the rug lie flat. It is going on a hardwood floor.
I would suggest the Super Lock Natural or the RugPro for their excellent gripping abilities. Neither will elevate your rug.
-
We are getting LVT installed and the manufacturer said rug pads should be breathable, rubber or latex, untreated and non-staining. Can you point me in the right direction of a rug pad that will meet these requirements?
I would suggest Super Lock Natural. It is an open weave natural rubber pad with exceptional gripping power. This pad is safe for your floor and will not stain or stick to it or harm it in any way.
-
Is there a pad you recommend to go on top of luxury vinyl flooring? The manufacturer said breathable, rubber or latex and untreated/non-staining.
Yes, we have the perfect product for you, and it's called Super Lock Natural. This is a natural rubber non-slip pad with an open weave waffle design that allows airflow between rug and flooring.
-
First of all, why do you cut your pads 1" shorter? Secondly, what do you recommend for engineered hardwood floors? I have five rugs with the largest being 5' x 4' and was looking at Super Lock Natural. Will this pad bleed onto the hardwood?
To answer your first question, the reason we cut the pads shorter is to ensure that they don't stick out from under rugs. With regards to Super Lock Natural, this pad is perfectly okay for your rugs and floor type. It will not harm or stain the wood but do ask the floor manufacturer if natural rubber can be used on their product.
-
I am thinking of buying the Super Lock Natural pad for a 6' x 8' rug. How do I install it and is any adhesive required?
All you have to do is lay the pad down on your floor and unroll your rug over it. With this natural rubber pad, there is no specific side to put down on the floor. And no adhesive is needed.
-
What is the main difference between Nature's Grip and Super Lock Natural?
Super Lock Natural is made entirely of natural rubber while Nature's Grip is a natural rubber and natural plant jute pad.
-
I have a 5' x 8' wool rug on a hardwood floor. Will the Super Lock Natural or the eco-friendly rug pad be better?
The Super Lock Natural all natural rubber pad would be an excellent pad for your rug and floor type. It gives optimum grip while also protecting floors over the long term.
-
Will Super Lock Natural sufficiently protect my floor? The pad will go under a machine woven rug with an ottoman sitting on part of it. Unfortunately, in the past, I purchased rugs and pads that stuck to my hardwood and damaged the floor.
I don't see you having any kind of problem with Super Lock Natural. This all natural rubber pad will not skid, stain or mark the wood and should provide the stability you need.
