• Q:

  Do I need a non-slip pad or a cushion pad?

  A:

  Non-slip pads are best for high-traffic areas such as foyers and hallways, where thin rugs and runners are prone to slipping and sliding. Our cushion pads add a plush layer for large rugs already anchored by furniture, such as living and dining rooms. Should you decide you need a degree of both grip and cushioning, opt for a felt and rubber pad.

• Q:

  Which side of this rug pad do I place on the floor?

  A:

  The soft, fuzzy textured side should be placed on your flooring.

• Q:

  Which rug types work well with Eco Plush?

  A:

  Eco Plush is our most popular pad for rugs 7’x10’ and larger. Most larger rugs are anchored down with furniture, and thus often don’t require a non-slip pad. Felt rug pads are great for adding a dense layer of comfort under larger room rugs while also providing floor protection, insulation, and acoustical benefits.

• Q:

  How much smaller should a felt rug pad be compared to my rug?

  A:

  Felt pads are a bit thicker and denser than your typical rubber rug pads. Therefore, we cut your pad 1 - 1.5 inches smaller than your rug. Felt rug pads are very difficult to trim at home. Make sure to enter your exact dimensions to have one of our staff members cut your pad to fit your rug.

• Q:

  Which rug pad works best with radiant heat flooring?

  A:

  We suggest Contour Lock, Superior Lock, or Eco Plush. Contour Lock and Superior lock are made from a combination of rubber and recycled felt fibers and offer both cushioning and non-slip grip. Eco Plush is made from only felt and solely offers cushioning. Felt and rubber are both natural materials and are durable enough to withstand changing temperatures (such as those with radiant heat flooring) without breaking down or damaging the floor.

• Q:

  Which pad is the best at soundproofing?

  A:

  With a density of 8lbs per cubic foot, Cloud Comfort 7/16" thickness is our densest pad and is best at soundproofing. Its 100% visco-elastic memory foam base provides a supportive layer between the floor and rug and is engineered to absorb weight and sound. If you are looking for a felt pad, Eco Plush 7/16" thickness is another option. Made of tightly woven, heat pressed felt fibers, it is our second densest pad and will provide excellent soundproofing.

  What thickness is recommended when purchasing an Eco Plush rug pad?

  A:

  Eco Plush is available in three thicknesses: ¼“, ⅜“, ½“. Our thicker sizes provide a heavier layer of cushioning and support for those looking to maximize feel and comfort. Our thinner ¼“ pad is perfect for those looking for moderate cushion while enjoying the floor protection benefits that come with a 100% felt rug pad.

• Q:

  Which pads are best for travertine tile?

  A:

  Our most popular pad for tile flooring is Anchor Grip, made of a soybean oil polymer blend. If your rug is larger than 8 x 10 and you want to add some extra cushioning, Eco Plush would also be a great option. However it is always best to contact your floor manufacturer to know which are the best materials for your particular floor.

• Q:

  Do the Eco Plush rug pads mold? Do they produce any odor?

  A:

  Our rug pads will not mold or mildew and are completely odor-free. If your pad does get wet, be sure to lift it up and let it air dry for a few hours.

  Which floor types is Eco Plush safe for?

  A:

  Eco-Plush is safe for all floors and finishes.

• Q:

  I am changing the rug that goes over my Eco Plush 1/2" thick felt rug pad and need to trim the pad to a slightly smaller size. What is the best tool for doing this?

  A:

  You need either a carpet knife or a good pair of garden shears.

• Q:

  We have a 12' x 15' area rug on an oak hardwood floor with a Harco oil-based polyurethane finish. What is the best pad for our situation?

  A:

  I recommend the Eco Plush rug pad. This 100% heat-pressed felt pad is non-toxic and contains no chemicals, glues or adhesives. It will protect your floor and rug for many years.

  I have new laminate flooring that will have a recumbent bike and an elliptical trainer on it. What pad do you recommend to prevent the floor being scratched if the machines move when I am on them?

  A:

  The generous cushioning provided by our Eco Plush 100% heat-pressed felt pad is your best option. This pad comes in three thicknesses: 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2".

• Q:

  Which pads are safe to use on a heated hardwood floor? My floor manufacturer doesn't provide any guidelines.

  A:

  It really depends on the size of your rug. Felt is always safe for all floor types, even with radiant heat underneath. If your rug is large, let’s say bigger the 6' x 9', I would recommend the Eco Plush pad. However, keep in mind that this is NOT a non-slip pad. So, if slipping might be an issue for you go with a felt and natural rubber pad called Contour Lock.

• Q:

  Can you confirm that Eco Plush rug pads have no rubber/latex on the side which touches the flooring? I have a pre-war wooden floor and do not want anything to adhere to it. Also, I'm looking for cushioning but no grip.

  A:

  Yes, I can confirm that the Eco Plush pad is 100% felt. It contains no rubber, latex, chemicals or adhesives. This is one of our thickest and most supportive pads and will give you a luxurious layer of cushioning that's not only comfortable but will also protect your floor and rug. Eco Plush is not a non-slip pad.

• Q:

  Would you recommend the Contour Lock rug pad for softwood as well as hardwood floors? We have wide old pine floors.

  A:

  I would actually go with the Eco Plush pad for those floors. It is a dense heat-pressed felt pad that will cushion and protect your floors for many years. This pad is available in three different thicknesses.

• Q:

  Is there a significant difference in soundproofing between the 3/8" Eco Plush pad and the 1/2" thickness?

  A:

  Yes, there is an additional 8 ounces per square yard of density in the 1/2" thickness which makes it better.

• Q:

  I'm looking for a rug pad for a dhurrie rug under a dining room table on hard wood floors. What's the best option?

  A:

  Since it is pretty large rug and you have a dining room table to anchor it down, we suggest the 1/4 inch Eco-Plush pad as it will cushion and protect your floor without slippage. This pad is also odor-free anxd eco-friendly.

• Q:

  What is the best pad to catch the sand made by a sisal rug?

  A:

  If you also have a problem with slipping you can go with a felt and natural rubber pad such as Contour Lock or Superior Lock. If you don't have a problem with slipping, I recommend taking a look at the Eco Plush heat-pressed felt pad. All of these pads will catch the sand and prevent it from reaching and damaging your floor.

• Q:

  Can I put Eco Plush on a tile floor? I want it to protect my rug from wear on a hard surface.

  A:

  Yes, Eco Plush will be fine on a tile floor but note that it's not a non-slip pad.

• Q:

  I have a large Persian rug that is anchored by furniture. Therefore, I don't need a non-slip pad, just something to help with cushioning. What do you recommend?

  A:

  I recommend the Eco Plush pad. It is a popular choice for the lush cushioning of its dense fibers, which offer long-term protection to floors and rugs.

• Q:

  I want a pad to protect my hardwood floor from the bottom of a thick 8' x 8' rug. I don't need it to be thick and as there’ll be a desk on the rug I don’t need a non-slip pad either. Also, the pad mustn’t leave a residue on the wood. Recommendations?

  A:

  I am going to suggest our Eco Plush pad. This pad is made of 100% heat-pressed felt and will protect your hardwood for many years. It will provide an effective barrier between your rug's backing and the floor and will not stain, mark or damage it in any way. I recommend the 1/4" thickness.

• Q:

  I have just received my new Eco Plush rug pad and I'm assuming that the coated side goes up against the rug and the softer side faces the floor. Is this correct?

  Yes, you are correct. The soft side goes on the floor.

  Is the Eco Plush pad safe for Armstrong rigid core vinyl plank flooring?

  A:

  Yes, it is. This 100% heat-pressed felt pad will not cause your floor any type of damage.

• Q:

  I have an 8' x 10' tufted rug made of polypropylene over Pergo flooring. I'm not really concerned about it moving because it's anchored by a couch. I really want to protect my flooring and add some cushioning. Which pad would be best?

  A:

  I recommend the Eco Plush dense felt pad. It will give you a lot of cushioning as well as long-term floor protection. This pad comes in three different thicknesses: 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2".
